Payment Policy

• A 25% deposit is required within 7 days of booking confirmation to secure a reservation.
• Full payment is due no later than one month prior to arrival. For bookings made within 30 days of arrival, full payment is required at the time of booking. Any additional charges not included in the booking rate must be settled upon departure.
• Please note that a reservation is not guaranteed until the deposit requirement has been met.
• Hemingway House reserves the right to cancel a booking automatically if the required deposit has not been received.
• The payer is responsible for bank charges and foreign currency conversion fees.

Cancellation Policy

• Cancellations must be confirmed in writing.
• Deposit will be forfeited if booking is cancelled 90 days or less prior to arrival.
• A 5% administrative fee will apply for all cancellations.
• No-shows will be charged in full.
• Our cancellation policy applies regardless of whether payments have been received or not.
• The guest must ensure adequate travel insurance to cover cancelled or delayed flights, medical expenses and personal baggage.

Check-in / Check-out

• Check-in time is 15:00. Every effort will be made to ensure the house is ready upon arrival. However, guests may request an early check in which we will try to accommodate if there are no guests in the house checking out that day.
• Check-out time is 10:00. We will try to accommodate late check-outs when requested in advance.

Child Policy

• Children of all ages are welcome.
• High chair and crib available upon request.
• Please note that there is a pool and a hot tub (jacuzzi). We do not take responsibility for your child’s safety around the water. Please ask for the pool to be closed if you have young children that are not safe around the pool.

Other

• The breakage deposit shall be refunded as soon as the owner has determined that the premises have been returned in the same order as when occupied and any additional costs for the tenants account have been finalized. The breakage deposit covers all or any items damaged or broken, remotes and keys, extra cleaning costs for linen, curtains and upholstery and that of any items stolen from the house due to negligence by the tenant. If breakages or thefts amount to more than your breakage deposit, it is agreed that this amount will be for the tenants account.
• The premises are let for the use as a private house by the tenant and named guests only, and are not to exceed the amount booked for or subleased.
• During the period of occupation, the tenant shall keep the premises and contents thereof in good condition and on departure return the house in the same condition as they were on arrival.
• The Hemingway House, the landlord and/ or staff accept no liability whatsoever in respect of any theft, loss, damage or injury to the tenants whether due to negligence on the part of the owners, their agents, their staff or otherwise.
• Linen and towels are provided and changed once a week and daily housekeeping includes making the beds, washing of dishes, cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping bedrooms, lounges and kitchen.
• The Hemingway House is STRICTLY A NON SMOKING house and the owners appreciate your cooperation to refrain from smoking anywhere inside the house. Permeating smoke in the house may require upholstery to be cleaned at the tenants’ costs.
• The tenant hereby chooses domicilium citandi et executandi for all purposes at the leased premises and accepts the jurisdiction of the Magistrate’s Court, Hermanus for the purpose of any action against him/her in terms of this contract and further agrees that he/she shall be liable for any legal costs incurred in respect of any action instituted against him/her on the attorney and client scale including collection of commission.
• The use of The Hemingway House is for residential purposes only and may NOT be used as a venue for functions, parties or gatherings whatsoever.
• Parking Facilities are for a maximum of 4 vehicles only.
• The Hemingway House is strictly a no crackers or fireworks zone.
• It is strictly prohibited by law to remove any vegetation or plants on the beach or footpath.
• For your safety and that of our home do not leave laptops, cell phones, jewelry, handbags and any items of value unattended and protect your valuables.
